Our Plants
Malvaceae
Malvaceae, or the "mallows", are a large family including at least 4,225 species and 243 genera world-wide. The family is united by the funnel-shaped flowers, bearing 5 separate petals, a column of stamens surrounding the pistil, 3-5 partially united sepals, and several bracts.
All plants contain natural gum - mucilage, pectin, or asparagin - and possess a slimy texture when crushed (1, 2, 3).
