Our Plants
Didiereaceae
Didiereaceae is a small family of 6 genera and 20 species that are endemic to southern and eastern Africa, and Madagascar. Species are upright trees that resemble cacti - possessing woody stems and often covered in singular or clustered spines.
All plants can be determined by the presence of tannins in older stems, the non-reduced deciduous leaves, and the differentiation of stems into long and short shoots (1, 2).
