Cactaceae
Cactaceae is a popular family that includes 30-200 genera and 1,000-2,000 species of distinctive succulents. Plants usually possess a green, photosynthetic stem and modified leaves - either as cladophylls or spines. At the same time, species may possess woolly hair in addition to or in replacement of spines (1, 2).
Another unifying feature of cacti are the flowers, possessing numerous tepals, stigma lobes, and stamens, often in great numbers. The inflorescences are large, showy, attractive, and popular in pollinator gardens (1, 3).
